State Rep. Ted Vick Withdraws from Congressional Race

Vick was arrested in Columbia Thursday morning with a female student from USC in his car and a pistol in his pocket.

A state representative running for the 7th Congressional District announced his plans to withdraw from the race just one day after his arrest in Columbia. Rep. Ted Vick, D-Chesterfield, announced on Friday he would end his Congressional campaign. “After spending time with my family, my pastor and my friends, I have decided to end my campaign for the United States Congress," Vick said in a press release. "While I have full confidence that the legal system will clear much of this up, it will not change the fact that I made some serious mistakes that I alone am responsible for. Gingrich Suspends Campaign

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has officially pulled out of the race.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich made it official on Wednesday and announced he was suspending his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination. "Finally, I have to thank the voters of South Carolina — and apologize to them. We will have broken their tradition of always picking the nominee," Gingrich said during his remarks. "This will make me feel slightly guilty every time we drift through South Carolina. But they were tremendous. They were welcoming. They were enthusiastic. The size of the victory was historic.
