Fire Destroys Taylors Home

No injuries have been reported

A Taylors home was destroyed by fire Friday afternoon. The cause of the fire at Goose Trail has not been determined. No injuries have been reported. This video, courtesy of WSPA, shows heavy smoke and flames at the residence. Read more of this story.

Big Boom Heard Across the Upstate

Some think it may have been a meteorite

Several media outlets in the Upstate had reports of a large boom and bright lights streaking across the sky. The boom was heard and felt in parts of Georgia, in the upstate of South Carolina and western North Carolina. According to WYFF, the National Weather Service said it began receiving calls about 2 a.m. The story said that after checking the security tapes at the National Weather service, they saw a bright light in the sky around 1:42 a.m. Spartanburg County reported receiving more than 70 calls on the incident, according to the report. On the Fox Carolina Facebook page, viewers reported the noise sounded as if something had hit their house, while others said they slept through it. WSPA's Amy Wood tweeted, "I heard it. S.C. Debate-Watchers Given the Evil Eye

Upstate CBS affiliate said airing the entire debate was never part of the plan.

Saturday's CBS News/National Journal debate was just getting interesting when viewers in South Carolina watching the show were returned to regularly scheduled programming. It came as a surprise to viewers, moderators and the state Republican Party that South Carolina viewers got the "evil eye" from CBS. At the beginning of the live debate, CBS newsman Scott Pelley told viewers that when the debate moved to the National Journal and Face the Nation websites, stations in South Carolina and on the West Coast would still carry the debate. National Journal's Major Garrett even tweeted it early Saturday. But after a commercial break, instead of seeing moderators Pelley and Garrett, it was Jethro Gibbs and Tony DiNozzo from a rerun of the hit show…

maizenbluedoc, I think perhaps y'all have forgotten President Obama's performances at the debates when he ran originally. The teleprompter joke is always good for a quick laugh, but there weren't any when he debated before and he did quite well. I think it will all depend on who the GOP ultimately nominates.
