Photos: Grandparents Visit Kids At Taylors Elementary

Grits For Grandparents allowed men and women to visit their grandchildren at school.

Did you attend the "Grits For Grandparents" breakfast Wednesday at Taylors Elementary?  The program allowed grandparents to eat breakfast in the cafeteria early Wednesday morning.  If you attended and snapped some shots, we'd love to see them! Taylors Elementary School Celebrates Christmas

Taylors kindergartners celebrated the last day of school before winter break with Polar Express and pajamas.

Kindergartners at Taylors Elementary School had loads of fun Wednesday, which was the last day of school for Greenville County students before Winter Break.  Students watched Polar Express and wore pajamas while drinking hot chocolate and eating party snacks.  Check out Patch.com's gallery of the children's fun.  Merry Christmas!

Taylors Elementary Teachers Holding Food Drive Battle

Two Taylors teachers are encouraging their kids to donate food to Greer Community Ministries.

Two Taylors Elementary School teachers - one a Clemson fan and one a South Carolina fan - are hoping the kids at their school will show the world which fan base is most giving.  Teachers Calvin Auman and Coleman Brown are hoping to rally the kids at Taylors Elementary for the student council food drive, which aims to provide food to Greer Community Ministries.  Brown, an avid Clemson fan, is hoping to receive more donations than Auman, an avid Carolina fan. The teacher who collects the least amount of food will have to wear a t-shirt of the opposing team on Nov. 20. Boxes for collection will be on the cafeteria stage at the school. The food drive will last from Nov. 12 to Nov. 16.  Examples of proper food donations include canned …

Children at Taylors Elementary School celebrated 50 days of school Friday.

Taylors Elementary School celebrated its 50th day of school in style Friday, letting its students take part in a 1950's themed party that featured dancing, hoola-hooping, soda floats and games.  Some teachers and students dressed up in attire typical of the 1950's for the event. Taylors Elementary Teacher Pamela Jahns Dies

Pamela Jahns, who taught at Taylors Elementary School for more than two decades, passed away Friday.

A Greer woman who made a name for herself as a teacher at Taylors Elementary School died Friday.  Principal Delaney Sutton confirmed by phone Friday that Pamela Jahns, who taught at Taylors Elementary School for 27 years before retiring two years ago, died Friday. She was 63.  Sutton said that though Jahns was technically retired, she was still often seen at the school while she lent a helping hand. Counseling will be available to students affected by Jahns' passing, Sutton said.  Mackey Mortuary's obituary states: Pamela Shorey Jahns of Greer entered into God's grace on Friday, September 07, 2012. Sex offenders must register with the state every time they move. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division maintains a record of every registered sex offender, and their database shows five sex offenders living in a one-mile radius of Taylors Elementary School on Reid School Road:  - Lewis White, 207 Tanner Road, Taylors - Derrick Spurgeon, 8 Bridgewood Avenue, Taylors - Stephen Brown, 4 Easy Street, Taylors - Christopher Durham, 513 Lincoln Drive, Taylors - Robert McCall, 521 Lincoln Street, Taylors   Details of the offenses are viewable here.

GALLERY: Taylors Elementary School 5th Grade Day

5th Grade students at Taylors Elementary School enjoyed a day of fun on Monday.

Instead of reading books and studying, 5th grade students at Taylors Elementary School spent Monday enjoyed a special day honoring them as they prepare to leave elementary school for middle school.  "5th Grade Day" was held at Taylors Elementary, which included roller skating at Roller Sports in Taylors, as well as games, snacks and fun at the school.

Gallery: Taylors Topcats Chorus Group Gives Spring Performance

The Taylors Topcats performed Monday in the first rendition of its last presentation of the school year.

The Taylors Topcats, the choral group for Taylors Elementary School, has spent much of the school year practicing twice a week. On Monday night, the group's hard work paid off when it presented its last song set of the year during its spring performance. Check out the gallery to see Patch's photo coverage of the event.
