Former Eastside Athlete Recognized Nationally

Spartanburg Methodist College sophomore golfer Eric Manning from Eastside High School was recognized nationally for academic achievement.

Manning posted a 4.0 grade-point average for the 2012-13 school calendar year and received the NJCAA’s Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence. He was one of only four SMC athletes, along with wrestler Michael Clevenger (Boiling Springs High), tennis player Laura Morales (Wren) and cross country runner Max Bejmer from Sweden, to be so honored.

SMC athletes who received Exemplary Academic Achievement awards for GPAs of at least 3.6 were softball players Lindsay Gore (Lexington), Alexa Richie (Summerville) and Lacy Smith (Irmo); basketball player Margo Dill (Hilton Head) and Jenna White (Fort Mill); soccer player Mary Bouyea (Summerville); and runner Aisha Maddox (Irmo).
