Eastside YMCA 5K Race Is Saturday
A relatively flat course offers a perfect chance for beginners and young runners to get into the sport, and gives experienced runners a chance to beat their personal bests.
Taylors-Wade Hampton Patch will be on hand Saturday morning for the 's 5K and fun run.
The 5K will begin shortly after the fun run, which begins at 8 a.m. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The race will begin at the YMCA branch on Taylors Road, and go from the Y, down Brushy Creek Road, past , and loop back through the neighborhood back to the Y. The run/walk is 3.1 miles. Runners can see the race route attached. Registration for runners who have not yet signed up is still open, and will be open the day of the race. The cost is $25.
Patch.com will have a table set up at the event to introduce runners and supporters to the site. Those who sign up for Patch's free e-mail newsletter will receive a water bottle.

All participants in the Fun Run will receive a medal, with the three top male and female finishers in the 13-17, 18-34, 25-29, 30-34 and the 65 and older age groups will receive medals. Gift certificates will also be awarded to the overall top male and female finishers, while the first 100 registered runners will be given t-shirts.
