VIDEO: Eastside Captures Region Crown

The Eagles overcame a sluggish start to win at Berea.

A dream deferred for two decades became a reality Friday night, as the Eastside High boys basketball team captured the Peach Blossom region title with a 79-66 win over Berea.

A nearly capacity crowd at Berea High School watched the home Bulldogs take a 16-point lead in the second quarter, fueled by seniors Lex Davis and Demarcus Lewis.

But after cutting the lead to six by the end of the half, the Eagles dominated the rest of the game, using its strength in the post to wear down the Bulldogs, as forwards Luke Jones and Davaris McGowens crashed the boards down the stretch.
