Presidential Debate Event Being Held At Furman University

Political groups taking part in viewing.

The presidential debate between President Barack Obama and GOP challenger Mitt Romney will be televised on most major new channels at 9 p.m. Wednesday. 

Furman College Democrats, Furman College Republicans and the Cicero Debate Society are using the occasion to open up dialogue on the issues facing the nation by holding a viewing party at the school beginning at 8:45 p.m. in the Daniel Recital Hall.

The members of the groups will be using electronic devices to provide their feedback on the issues in real time as they watch Romney and Obama argue their points, and Patch.com will be present to provide coverage.

The debate, being held at the University of Denver, will focus on foreign policy and is being moderated by Jim Lehrer of PBS. The 90-minute debate will be split into six 15-minute segments, and will focus on critical issues like health care and the economy. The event is not open to the public.
