Jenn Webb Running For Bob Taylor's County Council Seat

The approaching June 12 primary has made headlines for both its apparent mismanagement and its stiff competition. The race for county council seats in the Taylors-Wade Hampton area serves as an example of how incumbents are being made to campaign to keep their posts due to intra-party competition.  

Scott Stephens is running against Sid Cates for one of those spots. In race for the District 22 seat, Jenn Webb is attempting to unseat longtime councilman Bob Taylor, a 12-year veteran on the council.  

District 22 extends from Wade Hampton Boulevard and into the Wade Hampton area of Greenville, near East North Street and Pelham Road. 

Webb, who works in Lockheed Martin's field operations group, said she wants to bring a "neighborhood voice" to the council through consistent constituent relations.  Among her platforms are government transparency, education, public safety and jobs growth, with much of her focus centering on economic development. 

Webb has served as a liaison between Lockheed Martin international air forces and navies regarding military aircraft parts sales, a fact her campaign said has allowed her to develop an ability to easily work with a vast variety of people. 

She's running against Bob Taylor, who was first elected in 2000. Taylor, the council's parliamentarian, graduated for Bob Jones University before also receiving degrees from Clemson University, the University of South Carolina and Penn State.

Taylor has spent much of his life serving on various governmental and advisory bodies, such as the Tri-County Technical College Advisory Committee, Greenville County Election Commission and the Greenville City Zoning Board of Appeals.
