South Carolina's primary has decided the eventual Republican presidential nominee since 1980.
The Ballot Box, a blog which appears on The Hill, said the state's early favorites for the 2012 election are Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachmann.
But state Republicans said former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R) are contenders.
