Woman Charged in Upstate Shooting, Victim Drove to Greer Hospital

Joy Denise Lockey is charged with attempted murder after deputies said she shot an acquaintance Monday evening.

An Upstate woman has been charged with attempted murder after Spartanburg County deputies said she shot an acquaintance in the neck.

Joy Denise Lockey, 30, of Campobello, was arrested Tuesday after deputies said the victim named Lockey as the shooter.

Spartanburg deputies were called to assist Greer police Monday night after the gunshot victim drove himself to Greer Memorial Hospital.

Deputies learned the victim had been shot at a home on Edwards Mill Road in Lyman. The victim was later flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where his condition is unknown at this time.

Investigators have not said what the motive was for the shooting, but believe drugs may have been involved.

Lockey is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on no bond.
