Wofford Golfer Loses Leg After Being Struck By Train

Christopher Joye Jr. was struck by a train in Spartanburg over the weekend.

A 20-year-old Wofford College student had his leg severed Saturday after he was hit by a train, FoxCarolina.com reports

Spartanburg police were dispatched to the railroad crossing at Magnolia Street and Daniel Morgan Avenue at 4:30 a.m. when a train conductor said he spotted someone lying near the tracks. 

After the trains were stopped, officers found Christopher Joye Jr. of Irmo, a member of the Wofford College golf team, lying near the tracks behind a signal control box. His right leg had been severed above the knee and found hundreds of yards down the track. He is currently being treated at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
