UPDATE: One Lane US 25 North Now Open

The South Carolina Highway Patrol had been diverting traffic earlier Thursday, while crews were trying to repair a hole in the bridge.

One lane of U.S. Highway 25 has been reopened as of Thursday evening.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is continuing to work on the bridge and hopes to have it reopened.

DOT said the bridge is structurally sound, but that the riding surface was compromised.

SCDOT estimates repairs to the hole, which is 2 feet by 5 feet, will be completed and traffic on both lanes reopened by the week of June 10.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to use caution when traveling in the work zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph through the work zone for the duration of the repair.

A portion of U.S. Highway 25 North has been shut down due to a safety concern and traffic is being diverted to Highway 11.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, traffic on U.S. 25 North is being diverted to Highway 11 and then from Highway 11 to I-26 to go in to North Carolina.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation said that a hole has formed in the Highway 11 bridge, causing a safety concern for vehicles traveling in the area,

Traffic will be detoured for an undetermined period of time.
