Tips Still Needed in Unsolved Triple Homicide in Greer

May 16 marks the ninth anniversary of the three Upstate residents who were shot and killed at Blue Ridge Savings Bank in Greer.

Sylvia Holztclaw of Greer, an employee of the bank, and Boiling Springs residents Dr. James Elbert "Eb" Barnes, a professor at USC Spartanburg, now USC Upstate, and his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Barnes, a receptionist and convention coordinator for the National Beta Club, were the victims of murder and a bank robbery that occurred just after 1:30 p.m.

Blue Ridge Savings Bank, most recently known as BNC Bank, located at 330 East Frontage Road and overlooking Interstate 85, closed last year.

Hundreds of leads have been followed by law enforcement in an attempt to arrest those responsible in the triple homicide, but so far the case remains unsolved.

Greer Police officers arrived on scene at approximately 1:43 p.m. that day, after receiving a panic alarm from the business. Once on scene, officers discovered the bodies of the three victims in a small utility room in the back of the bank. All the victims had died as a result of gunshot wounds.

The FBI believes additional information exists if those parties would come forward. The public is urged to call their local FBI office with any information.
