Taylors Teen Killed In Eastside Collision

A 19-year-old was killed on Hudson Road after being struck by a car Monday night.

UPDATED 11:45 p.m. 

The Greenville County Coroner's Office released the identity of a Taylors man who was killed while walking on Taylor's east side Monday night. Barry Wright, deputy coroner, identified the victim as 19-year-old Joshua Scott McIntyre, who resided on Hillbrook Road in Taylors. 

McIntyre died from blunt force trauma, and was declared dead at the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

A 19-year-old from Taylors was hit and killed by a car Monday night as he was walking in the Eastside area, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Greenville County Coroner's Office confirmed.

Lance Corporal Brent Kelly with the SCHP said a 19-year-old, who has yet to be identified, was walking on Hudson Road near its intersection with Baucom Park Road when the collision occurred. Kelly said the pedestrian was walking in the roadway at 6:26 p.m. Monday when a 1992 Chevrolet, driven by Lewis Paul of Greer, struck the person. 

A second and possibly third vehicle also struck the pedestrian, who was declared dead at the scene. Those with information about the whereabouts of the other cars that could have hit the victim is asked to call the Highway Patrol's Upstate call center at (864) 587-4700. 

Deputy Coroner Barry Wright said the coroner's office had not even attempted to notify the victim's next of kin as of roughly 10 p.m. Highway Patrol's accident reconstruction team was still on scene at that time.
