The Greenville Police Department released further information Monday about the shooting death of 3-year-old Temorej Smith.
Johnathan Bragg, public information officer for the Greenville PD said Smith was found by deputies at a unit at The Plantations at Haywood apartments after officers were dispatched there in reference to a gunshot victim. Smith was unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was declared dead shortly thereafter.
The Greenville PD released Monday that Smith and his seven-year-old sibling were playing with a handgun that was pink in color which they thought was a toy. While playing with the gun, the victim was shot and killed.
No one has been arrested or charged in the death, which was ruled accidental.
