Marietta Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole

William Joe Phillips, 33, has been charged as an accessory before the fact to murder.

A Marietta man has been convicted and sentenced to life without parole for his role in the death of another man.

William Joe Philips, 33, was sentenced June 12 as an accessory before the fact to murder.

According to court records, on July 8, 2011, Charlie Roberts was murdered by Jerry "JJ" Leonard Allen in Marietta. Allen had been hired by William "Jobo" Phillips to kill Roberts who was at the time in a relationship with Phillips' former girlfriend.
