Man Killed By Train In Spartanburg

Unidentified man tried to cross tracks on bicycle.

A man was killed Sunday night in Spartanburg when he tried to cross some railroad tracks and was struck by a train, WYFF reports. 

Capt. Regina Nowak of the Spartanburg's public safety department said the incident happened just before 6 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of West Henry and South Forest streets. 

A WYFF reports that it appeared the victim attempted to cross between the cars of a CSX train there. The victim, who hasn't been identified, died in surgery at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

Nowak said the train had been stopped on the tracks when the victim attempted to cross, but started moving again as the person rode onto the tracks, striking him.
