Loftis Calls Out South Carolina Sheriffs
Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis calls on fellow sheriffs across the state to hold themselves to a higher standard.
Last month, Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis took the moment of his becoming president of the South Carolina Sheriff's Association as an opportunity to talk about integrity and accountability, WYFF reports.
Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis said during the July meeting that his sheriffs of the state must be held to a higher standard, as multiple sheriffs across the state have made headlines since 2010 over moral failings such as marital infidelity to situations with legal ramifications, such as embezzlement and brutality.
Loftis is running for re-election in November's general election. Would-be Democratic challenger Dexter Reaves was unsuccessful in his attempt to get his name on the ballot via a petition drive last month.
