Local Man Shot to Death

John Zimeri shot and killed Saturday in a mobile home off Augusta Road.

Greenville County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in a local mobile home community.

Deputies responded to a 911 call Saturday of gunfire and discovered 21-year-old John G. Zimeri of Greenville dead in a mobile home at 630 Centre Blvd., located off Augusta Road near Donaldson Center Airport about five miles outside Mauldin, WYFF reported.

Deputies reportedly found Zimeri's body in the doorway of the home's rear entrance. Deputy coroner Kent Dill told the station that Zimeri had been shot in the torso, and ruled his death a homicide.

Zimeri did not live in the home, but reportedly was acquainted with the home's occupants.

Meanwhile, residents said this incident and an uptick in crime in the area called for more patrols.

"I hope they catch the people who's doing this and that it stops and that it gets better over here," Jason Gillespie told the station.

The murder remains under investigation. Stay tuned to Patch for more details.
