Highway Patrol Still Looking For Other Vehicles Involved In Pedestrian Death

Joshua Scott McIntyre was struck and killed while on Hudson Road

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating an Eastside pedestrian's death that occurred on New Year's Eve, as they try to find out what others cars ran over Joshua Scott McIntyre after he was initially struck.

McIntyre, a 19-year-old from Taylors, may have been skateboarding when he was struck and killed on Hudson road at roughly 6:30 p.m. Monday, Lance Corporal Brent Kelly with the SCHP told Patch. He was reportedly in the roadway when he was hit.

"He had a skateboard, but we're not sure if he was on the skateboard when he got hit, or if he was just walking and carrying the skateboard," Kelly said.

After McIntyre was struck near Hudson Road's intersection with Baucom Park Drive by Lewis Paul's 1992 Chevy, at least one car and as many as two ran over McIntyre, Kelly said.

McIntyre was declared dead at the scene.

Those with information about the whereabouts of the other cars that could have hit the victim is asked to call the Highway Patrol's Upstate call center at (864) 587-4700.

Kelly said he was hopeful those who ran over McIntyre after he had already been struck would go to the authorities to clear up their involvement in the collision.

"We're looking for these other two vehicles that ran him over after he was initially hit," Kelly said. "Maybe they just didn't realize what they hit or something. Maybe they'll read something in the news and realize 'hey I was on that road last night.'"

A white cross on Hudson Road and paint outlines delineated Tuesday where McIntyre had been hit.

Kelly said no charges had been filed, but would not comment on whether or not they would be filed against Lewis or other drivers. The Highway Patrol's accident reconstruction team was on scene for hours Monday night.

"No charges have been filed yet," Kelly said. "It's still under investigation."
