UPDATED: Greer Police Investigating Double Homicide

Two bodies were found at a home on West Church Street early Thursday evening.

Greer police are investigating a double homicide at a home off West Church Street.

Lt. Jim Holcombe of the Greer Police Department said a neighbor called police after seeing two bodies behind a home at 116 W. Church St.

Holcombe said that when police arrived they found a male and a female both of whom had been shot. Holcombe said a gun was nearby.

The deaths are being investigated as a homicide, Holcombe said. The names of the deceased have not been released.

Holcombe said they are still in the early stages of the investigation, but that there is no threat to the community.

Greenville County Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said an autopsy would be performed Friday morning on both of the bodies.

Holcombe said to his knowledge police had received no other calls to the residence, which is located just off Main Street in Old Greer.

Investigators were still working to collect information Thursday evening at the residence.

About one block of West Main Street was blocked off while they worked.

Greer police are investigating a double homicide at a home off West Church Street.

According to the Greenville County Coroner's Office, the bodies of two individuals were found around 5:15 p.m. Thursday at West Church Street.

Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said an autopsy would be performed Friday morning on both the bodies.

According to two other media reports, a gun was found near the bodies. There is no danger to the public.
