Greenville Man Arrested For Stabbing

Murder occurred on Pear Street, just west of the Taylors-Wade Hampton area.

A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder Wednesday night after a fight at a Greenville home ended in a stabbing.

At roughly 5:30 p.m., the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 104 Pear Street, which is located between Highway 276 and Rutherford Road, in response to a reported stabbing. When deputies arrived, they found a victim with several stab wounds. He was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead.  Deputies were able to locate the suspect in the murder, identified as Willie Shanks. He is now charged with murder, with additional charges pending, according to a release from the GCSO.

Witnesses reportedly told investigators that an altercation broke out between the victim and Shanks at the home when Shanks pulled out a weapon and stabbed the man several times.
