Fire At BMW Plant Prompts Evacuation

A late night fire Thursday in a construction area of the Greer plant.

No one was hurt Thursday night after a fire in a warehouse area of the BMW Manufacturing Plant in Greer necessitated the evacuation of hundreds of employees, WYFF reports. 

Just after 9 p.m., an alarm went of at the plant, which BMW officials confirm was prompted by a fire in the roof section the construction area of the X3 assembly warehouse. 

Although the fire, concentrated in the roof area of the warehouse, was not close to any employees, all of the workers in the warehouse were evacuated nonetheless. No one was injured in the incident.

The Pelham-Batesville Fire Department was able get the fire under control within an hour, and by the end of the night, employees there were able to return to work.
