Eastside Student Killed in Fatal Crash Sunday

Kaitlin Michelle Haynes was a sophomore at Eastside High School.

A student at Eastside High School was killed Sunday after a one-vehicle collision in Greenville County.

The Greenville County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 16-year-old Kaitlin Michelle Haynes of Greer, according to Fox Carolina News.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Haynes, a sophomore at Eastside High, was a pasenger in the crash that happened around 4:15 p.m. on Jug Factory Road.

Troopers said that the 17-year-old driver, who was not injured in the crash, ran off the road, over corrected and then ran off the other side of the road, causing the truck to flip.

The Highway Patrol's MAIT Team is investigating the crash.
