UPDATE: Slain Driver Identified in Wade Hampton Hotel Shooting

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday at Savannah Suites.

UPDATE - 11:21 A.M. - 

The Greenville County Coroner's Office released the identity Wednesday morning of a man who was shot to death in his car at a Wade Hampton Boulevard hotel. 

Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis said that Ledrekius Fontez Sloan, 28, of Greenville, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest. His death has been classified by the coroner's office as a homicide.

Sloan was found shot in his vehicle at the Savannah Suites hotel on Wade Hampton Boulevard late Tuesday night. He was declared dead at the scene at 11:16 p.m., Ellis said.

ORIGINAL REPORT 

Greenville County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of a hotel Tuesday evening.

WSPA reports the driver of a vehicle was shot and killed in the parking lot at Savannah Suites, 2015 Wade Hampton Boulevard, around 10:30 p.m.

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide.

The name of the victim has not been released.

According to a report by Fox Carolina, one person involved in the shooting was taken from the scene. Deputies believe that a security guard employed by Savannah Suites responded to a disturbance in the parking lot and fired at least one shot into the car.
