Convicted Child-Killer Goes To Trial For Allegedly Killing Own Baby

Daron Davis, already convicted once of homicide by child abuse, is accused of once against taking the life of a child.

Daron Duane Davis, a Greer man accused of killing his own infant daughter in 2011, will go to trial for the crime next week, officials with the 13th Solicitor's Office said Monday.

Davis, of 506 Poplar Street in Greer, is accused of abusing his own 5-month-old daughter in January of 2011, causing major head injuries that led to her death. Davis was arrested Jan. 24, 2011 on a charge of great bodily injury to a child - a charge that was amended to homicide by child abuse once the child died.

It's not the first time Davis, 44, has been accused of abusing small children. He was convicted in 1996 of homicide by child abuse for causing the death of his 11-month-old daughter, and served 10 years in jail before his 2006 release.
