'Blood Everywhere': Graphic 911 Audio Released In Eastside Double-Murder

WARNING: The following is a 911 call made by an individual at a double-murder scene. Some of the descriptions are graphic. 

Patch.com obtained the audio Thursday of the Oct. 3 911 call made from 10 Terramont Drive, where a neighbor discovered the occupants, Gary and Helen Wells, stabbed to death. 

On Oct. 3, Gary Wells, 78 and his wife Helen Wells, 77, were discovered after the housekeeper Shirley Rogers couldn't get anyone to come to the door that morning. Rogers went to next door neighbor Douglas Doughty to ask for help.

When Doughty peered through a window of the home, he saw Gary Wells laying on the floor in his own blood. 

The 911 audio, obtained by Patch from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office through the Freedom of Information Act, paints the picture of what Doughty saw. 

"I'm at 10 Terramont Drive," Doughty said. "Uh, we found the neighbor —he's laying on the floor. There's blood everywhere. He's dead." 

Doughty told dispatchers that the front door was open, and that he had walked in to discovery Gary Wells covered in blood, stiff, cold and "totally white" in complexion. 

About midway through the call, Doughty said "Oh, Helen... there's two bodies," with dread as he discovered Helen Wells, also stabbed to death. Doughty told operators that he found Gary in the den or office area of the home, and Helen in a back bedroom. 

Doughty also described a possible murder weapon. 

"There's a knife laying on the floor near the female body in the back room. I don't see any guns," he said. "There's bloody footprints. I don't know, both bodies are totally bled out." 

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office has not identified a suspect in the murders, though a sketch has been released of a man who may have been in the area at the time of the slayings.
