85-Year-Old Charged After Gunfire, Argument Over $1

Greer police charged Daniel O'Neal Browning of Greer with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana.

GREER-TAYLORS, SC -- An 85-year-old Greer man has been charged after an argument over $1 ended with a pistol being drawn and a shot fired into the ground, officers said.

Greer police charged Daniel O'Neal Browning of 206 Turner St. with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana.

According to the incident report, Browning was arguing with another man when the Browning shoved another man and then pulled a pistol out and pointed it at the man. Browning then fired one shot into the ground. As the man began walking away, witnesses said that Browning fired a second shot, but missed the second man.

While Browning was being booked at the police department, the incident report said Browning was speaking loudly to himself and saying several times, "I shoulda shot him, but I missed."

Browning is being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on no bond.
