Jewel Gibson Dempsey, of Taylors passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. Born in Westminster, SC, she was the daughter of the late John Walter and Lillie Leard Gibson. She was an avid golfer with the Pebble Creek Ladies Golf Assn. and had a HOLE IN ONE at the course. She is survived by her husband: A. Gerald Dempsey of Taylors; three sons: Mike (Carol) Dempsey of Taylors, Rick (Beverly) Dempsey of Kingsport, TN and Phil (Kimberly) Dempsey of Alpharetta, GA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jewel was predeceased by a sister: Mae Gibson Foster and two brothers: Johnnie and Lewis Gibson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 6:00pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenville Humane Society 305 Airport Rd., Greenville, SC 29607 or Piedmont Hospice 209-A Riverside Ct., Greer, SC 29650.
