Taylors From A to Z.

Check out a few Taylors-Wade Hampton spots!

Recently I found myself reading an article on AOL's homepage entitled "Summer Dresses from A to Z," and it struck a chord with me.

"Wouldn't it be interesting," I thought, "If there was a similar alphabetic list of places to check out in this area?"

Don't consider this list a directory. Think of it as a fun activity - something to put on your refrigerator, where you can scratch off places you've been to or tried. A local scavenger hunt, of sorts. Take a glance at Taylors-Wade Hampton, from A to Z.

B-(Bowling) Wade Hampton Lanes (3065 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

What's more fun than getting a group of friends and family together for some Cosmic Bowling? Get some nachos, grab a ball and have some fun.

C-Clock Drive In (1844 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

Remember, this Wade Hampton staple doesn't accept credit or debit cards, so come with cash or checks handy. But the Clock's sinfully greasy cheeseburgers and fries are more than worth it.

D-DLS Tire Center (50 St. Mark Rd.)

DLS has a convenient location near Wade Hampton Blvd. should you have any tire problems.

E-Eastside High School (1300 Brushy Creek Rd.)

There's no better way to get involved in the community around you (and get some really inexpensive entertainment) than watching the local school's athletic events. Eastside High School has various sports teams, including football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and track.

F- Fuddruckers (6100 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

Yum. The smell of the fresh-baked buns hit you right as you walk through the doors. And these burgers aren't for the faint of heart - bring your appetite.

G-Gene's Dairy Bar (5330 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

Get a scoop of ice cream at this Taylors spot.

H-Harvey's Family Restaurant (3209 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

Recently re-opened, Harvey's is known for its family environment and traditional yummy food. I can't wait to head back there, myself.

I-Iced (4800 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

Got a sweet tooth? Check out iced, which has gourmet cupcakes and specialty tea and coffee to go with them.

J-Jazzercise (4893 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

Wanting to shed some pounds? Then go to Jazzercise, where you can have fun while you sweat as you work out to the beat of music.

Kensington is a great spot to look for housing in the heart of Taylors.

The Taylors library not only offers internet access and movie and book selections, but it also has a variety of programs for families and children.

P-Pebble Creek Pizza (1302 Stallings Rd.)

My family eats here at least once a week. Delicious pizza with virtually endless toppings to choose from, and for the guys - all you can eat buffalo wings on Mondays.

Q-Quiznos (802 S. Batesville Rd., Greer)

Need some lunch? Head down the road in Greer for a bowl of soup, a salad or a sandwich here.

R-Rollersports (204 W. Main St.)

A Taylors tradition. My husband and I still remember going here when we were children. It's a great place for parties, too!

S-Sno Hut (Wade Hampton Blvd., beside BB&T)

Sno Hut is a popular shaved ice spot in Taylors, right on Wade Hampton Boulevard. Little more than a shack, Sno Hut offers delicious, refreshing treats that are perfect for beating the summer heat.

This is a dependable spot for good steaks and drinks - a great place to visit with friends.

W-Wade Hampton High School (100 Pine Knoll Dr.)

Home of the Generals, make sure to check out WHHS's thriving athletic program. Last year, their boys basketball team won the state title! Wade Hampton also has a new fine arts center.

spinX-(3226 Wade Hampton Blvd.)

Besides offering good deals on snacks and drinks, Spinx participates in Bi-Lo's "fuel perks" program through its Bonus Card - a great way to save at the pump.

Whether you want to pump some iron, swim some laps in the pool or get your kids involved in the Y's myriad of activity offerings, this location is definitely a spot to look into.

My family has always loved Zorba East, where you can not only get a cold drink, but also any number of delicious sandwiches. Zorba is a cozy, inexpensive spot.
