Eastside YMCA Hosting Duathlon Next Weekend

Children are invited to take part in the swimming and running event.

The is celebrating Olympic Day 2012 by hosting an event to allow children of all ages to swim and run.

The YMCA will be hosting a duathlon for children from six to 14 years of age on June 30.

The Eastside YMCA will hold the event at 8 a.m. at its location on Taylors Road. Check on June 29 at 6 p.m. Registration can also be done the day of the race.

The cost of the race is $15 for members, and $20 for non-members. Children six to eight can participate in a 200-yard swim and a half-mile run, children nine and ten can participate in a 300-yard swim and a one-mile run, children who are 11 and 12 can take part in a 500-yard swim and a 1.5 mile run and children 13 and 14 can participate in a 700 yard swim and a two-mile run. 

Prizes will be given out to the top three finishers in each age group.
