Eastside YMCA Holding "Swim Around U.S." Challenge

Eastside YMCA trying to motivate its members to swim.

The Eastside YMCA wants to see who among its members can be the first to swim around the United States first.

Well, maybe not literally. According to the rules of the "Swim Around the United States" challenge, one lap in the pool there represents 12 miles on land. Either one person or a team of up to four people can take part in the challenge to swim 9,492 "miles" by March 31. That equals 791 total laps in the pool in just more than a month.

Of course, you can always buy yourself some help. A $1 contribution to the YMCA's "Open Doors" campaign buys you one miles.
