Charges Dropped in Beating Death of Taylors Couple

Charges against Irving "Ernie" Ramirez in the deaths of Homer and JoAnn Staton in October of 2009 have been dismissed.

On Thursday the Anderson County Solicitor's Office announced charges against an Upstate man accused in the deaths of a Taylors couple had been dropped.

Irving "Ernie" Ramirez who had been charged in connection with the deaths of Homer and JoAnn Staton in October of 2009 has been cleared of the charges, WYFF reports.

Matthew Fullbright was convicted of the murders earlier this year. He was sentenced to two life sentences for the murders and two 30-year sentences for the robberies, sentences to run consecutively.

Fullbright, in a written confession, had identified Ramirez as having been involved in the beating deaths. Anderson County Sheriff's deputies never found evidence to tie Ramirez to the case, according to the story.
