Upstate Kmart, Sears Stores Spared in Nationwide Closures

Only one Sears store closed statewide

No locations in Easley, Mauldin or Taylors were among the stores listed for closure Thursday by Sears Holding Corporation after the company announced that it would shut the doors to at least 79 Sears and Kmart stores, according to multiple media outlets.

Florida will bear the brunt of the widespread closures, as 11 stores will be closed.

In South Carolina, only a Sears location in Sumter is on the list. That means will not be affected, nor will the two Greenville locations at Kmart Plaza and Sulphur Springs Road.

The locations at in Mauldin and at Calhoun Memorial Highway in Easley also will remain open.

The closings represent only about three percent of Sears Holdings' U.S. stores.
