KMart On Wade Hampton Boulevard Closing

Liquidation to begin next month, with final closing coming in May.

KMart shoppers in the Taylors and Wade Hampton area of Greenville will have to find another store to frequent this spring, as the location at 2100 Wade Hampton Boulevard will close in May.

Multiple media outlets, including The Greenville News,  report that Sears Holding Corp. will close the Wade Hampton Boulevard location, along with another in St. Andrews near Columbia on May 19. Liquidation there will begin March 3.

Some 74 employees will lose their jobs due to the Wade Hampton Boulevard location closure.

News of KMart's decline began more than a year ago, when Sears confirmed in late 2011 that it was anticipating the closure of more than 100 Sears and KMart locations across the country due to stagnant sales numbers during the holiday shopping season.

KMart currently has two locations in Greenville and one in Easley, Seneca, Anderson and Mauldin.
