Duke Energy To Lessen Rate Hikes

It may be but a small, temporary relief to your checkbook, but Duke Energy has approved a measure that will reduce the power rate hike implemented in January.

Duke Energy customers in South Carolina will see a temporary reduction in the power rate hike implemented earlier this year, according to The Charlotte Observer

The paper reports that the Duke Energy has proposed a rate decrease that would effectively wipe out a $6 monthly increase implemented in January. In North Carolina, the state's utilities commission approved an adjustment that would reduce the typical residential customer's bill by $2.50 a month beginning in September.

Utility rates in both Carolinas, however, will remain fluid, as fluctuating fuel costs necessitates yearly rate adjustments.
