Meet your new teacher. Food Service and Transportation Representatives will be on site to help with lunch accounts and bus rider needs. All parents of K4, K5, and First grade students who will ride a bus must attend the event to sign up for bus tags and review bus protocol for 2013-2014. Both SIC and PTA representatives will be on site to answer school involvement questions and sell student agendas for $5.00 per student.

Mrs. Nancy Brantley, Principal, Mrs. Lakeshia Rainey, Assistant Principal, and other members from our Leadership Team will be on hand to welcome parents and students as they come into the school. Lollipops will be handed out to all children.

After the meeting parents will visit their students’ classrooms from 6:30-7 p.m. (first session) and 7-7:30 p.m. (second session). All parents are invited to come to this very important meeting to find out from their children’s teachers what will be taught during the school year.

This year, the GMS Fine Arts department, which has included a strong Strings and Band program will expand to include chorus for all three grade levels and an eighth grade drama class. Interested students should contact the Guidance Department at 355-5815.

Seventh Grade News Broadcast Class
Greer Middle School will be adding a seventh grade News Broadcast class. Students will write and record news stories that will be broadcasted school-wide. 2013-2014 Orientation for Students

Parking decals will be sold to students in grades 11 & 12 ONLY. Students must complete the Alive at 25 training before they purchase a parking decal at Orientation. On August 19, they must bring a valid driver’s license; a valid registration for the car; an insurance card; the make, model, and tag number of their car; and $40.00 to purchase a parking decal.

All students in Grade 9 are requested to report at their designated times. The same information will be given at each time segment.

The Science Department will be available to sell the required safety equipment of goggles and an apron for $3.00 during the Orientation for students in grade 9. This same safety equipment will be used by the students for all four years. The Physical Education Department will also sell the uniforms required for PEclass for $10.00.

Grade 10 - 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 20, - 10-11:30 a.m. Special Education: Self-Contained Special Education students will have their parent orientation in the classrooms with their teachers. Pictures for the yearbook will be taken during the Orientation. All other special education students will have their orientation with their designated grade level.
ALL students will have their picture made in the cafeteria for their ID badge. Pictures for the yearbook will be taken for students in grades 9, 10, & 11 at the Orientation time. Students must adhere to the proper attire as stated in the Dress Code for Greenville County Schools. All students in grades 9, 10, & 11 must report to the cafeteria for their school picture as soon as they enter the building. They will receive a ticket after they have their picture made. They must present their ticket at the entrance to the gym to pick up their information packets, their schedules, lockers, and textbooks. The Class of 2014 will sell agendas to record class assignments for $8.00 to all students.
Wednesday, August 21, is a regular school day. School will begin at 8:15 am for students who have a first period class. All other students will begin school at 9:07 am for second period.

Wade Hampton Family Fun Fest
Monday, Aug. 19, 4 – 7 p.m.
This will be a great time for all grade level students and families to meet teachers and find out about school activities for this year. There will be a DJ and free hotdogs, drinks, popcorn, and drawings for prizes. Bring the whole family. IDs will be made and it will be an excellent time for parents to sign up as volunteers. This event was a big success last year and we hope to have even more students and families this year! It is important that 9th grade students (and upperclassmen new to Wade Hampton) have their ID badge pictures made at this event.
