Greer's Freedom Blast: 10 Things Not To Miss
Things will go boom in the night sky Saturday over Greer.
Freedom Blast activities will begin at 6 p.m. at Greer City Park. This is a rain or shine event.
Here are 10 Things Not to Miss at Freedom Blast:
1. A Kids Zone with FREE crafts and activities will open at 6 p.m. Inflatables will be set up in the Kids Zone, but remember to bring cash it's $5 per person to play.
2. Want to know what's happening next? There's a mobile site where you can get all the information you'll need for the evening. Just scan the QR code attached to this story or look for the signs at City Park.
3. Greer Idol Contestants will perform at 6:30 p.m. Click here to find out who's competing this year.
4. The Swingin' Medallions performance begins at 7:45 p.m.
5. Do you like pie? Can you eat it really quickly? Then be sure to sign up for the Pie-Eating Contest. It starts at 7:15 p.m. at the amphitheater stage. Pre-register online.
6. Military vehicles on display! Check out The Military History Collectors Club of the Carolinas display of at least eight restored military vehicles on East Poinsett Street adjacent to active vehicles being displayed by the S.C. Army National Guard. And be sure to check out the Patriot Chopper, a custom motorcycle built by Orange County Choppers of Discovery Channel and TLC fame.
7. A special Salute to Veterans will be held at 9:45 p.m. Veterans who would like to participate in the walk are invited to gather at the Greer City Park amphitheater stage at 9:30 p.m.
8. Be All That You Can Be! The S.C. Army National Guard will have a rock climbing wall and portable ropes course set up for attendees to see if they have what it takes to be a soldier.
9. Give the Gift of Life! The Blood Connection will be on-site for blood donation from 6 to 9 p.m.
10. BLAST! The fireworks will begin at 10:15 p.m.
