BBQ Benefit to Aid Greer Relief

Benefit will be held Friday night and all day Saturday

A fundraiser this weekend promises to be “high on the hog.”

The Sooie't Relief BBQ Benefit kicks off Friday evening on Trade Street in Greer. Admission is free.

The event will take place from 6pm – 10pm on Friday night and from 10am – 10pm on Saturday.

More than 35 cookers from all over the Southeast will be coming to the Sooie't Relief BBQ Benefit to compete for the best chicken, pork and beef in this sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society State Championship Event.

There's a lot at stake for them - $6,900 in prize money!

Sooie't Relief opens Friday at 6pm with the Bradshaw Automotive Wing Fling. Cookers will compete for the popular vote on who makes the best wings.

The event will also feature free live entertainment on the Greer Memorial Hospital Main Stage. On Friday the Eric Scott Band and Outshyne will perform.

On Saturday, Becky Greene, Plum Hollow Band, Morgan Riley Band, Lewis Brice and Tyler Reeve will perform.

On Saturday, the Greer State Bank Tasters Choice will take over at 12 PM, with competitors submitting their best BBQ for the public’s vote for the best BBQ in town.

Tickets to purchase food, beverages and kids rides will be available for $1 each. Vendors will everything from BBQ plates to fresh squeezed lemonade to homemade ice cream. Special ride wristbands will be available for unlimited riding throughout the event.

The benefit also includes the DayStrong Car Show and a blood drive.

Sooie't Relief is the largest fundraiser for the Greer Relief & Resources Agency.
