Looking for a camp to send the kids this summer? Clemson has a huge range of options to choose from.
Clemson University has released its list of summer camps, and its a doozy. The university will be offering at least 36 different camps, many of them on campus, but also at sites throughout the Upstate and the rest of South Carolina. The camps, for children through high-schoolers, include a multitude of sports camps, camps aimed at the outdoors, and, of course, academic camps. Haley makes the proclamation in honor of the American Idol finalist, who is in the state for a celebratory weekend.
It's been quite a week for Candice Glover. First, the St. Helena Island, SC, native made it as a top 3 finalist on American Idol on Thursday night, Second, this weekend she's in her native Lowcountry to perform a celebratory concert and appear in a parade in her honor in Beaufort. And on Saturday, Gov. Nikki Haley officially proclaimed "Candice Glover Day" throughout the state. In the proclamation (attached), Haley urged the state to watch and vote for Glover as she attempts to win the Idol contest. Glover, who auditioned twice before making it on the show on her third attempt, has been performing since the age of 4. Legendary rock band will hit Simpsonville this summer as part of its 2013 Monster Tour.
Blood, fire, and pyrotechnics will blast the Charter Amphitheatre at Heritage Park in Simpsonville later this summer when the legendary rock band, KISS, brings its 2013 Monster Tour to town, it was announced Friday. Starting Sunday, filming of Cinemax TV series will shut down the toll road through April 24.
Commuters who use the Southern Connector toll road will need to search for an alternate route come this Sunday when the Cinemax cable TV series Banshee comes to the area for a film shoot. Connector officials confirm the nearly 18-mile toll road will shut at 10 pm. Sunday until 10 p.m. April 24 to film a segment for the pay-TV series, WSPA reported. The road, also known as Interstate 185, will be barricaded and secured by law enforcement officers. The closure could affect as many as 14,000 drivers daily, the station reported. Banshee premiered on Cinemax earlier this year and is about an enigmatic ex-con posing as a murdered sheriff who imposes his own brand of justice while also cooking up plans that serve his own interests. Song has stirred up controversy in recent weeks.
It’s been talked about on The View and Conan, spoofed on Saturday Night Live and lit up message boards for the better part of two weeks. It’s the song by country music star Brad Paisley called “Accidental Racist.” Paisley is joined in the song by rapper/actor LL Cool J as they both reference symbols of racism, such as the confederate In interviews such as the one above, Paisley has said the song is a plea to make racism a thing of the past. Former Clemson star and NFL running back records voice-over for the popular Fox TV show.
Fans of former Clemson running back C.J. Spiller and the TV show, "Family Guy," will get a special treat this upcoming season. The Buffalo Bills rusher said he recently recorded a voice-over for the often raunchy and popular Fox TV animated show, according to a report by TigersNow.com. Spiller recorded the voice-over Tuesday morning. “I haven’t really watched the show,” Spiller said during a chat with WGR radio in Buffalo, N.Y., on Tuesday. “So I guess since I’m doing that one I’ll watch and see how it turned out.” Spiller said he got asked a week or so ago to read what he said was "a little thing that they'll use in a scene."
