Woman Stabbed At Bible Study Near Taylors
Victim's husband in custody.
A woman is being treated for a stab wound to the back and her husband is in jail for inflicting the injuries after an altercation at a local church near Taylor's east side, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office confirmed.
At 2:16 p.m., the GCSO received a call from Kingdom Hall at 1400 Old Spartanburg Road, which is the area of Hudson Road and Brushy Creek Road. The caller reported a stabbing. Once deputies arrived, they found 46-year-old Leonard Edwards Jr. being held by several members of the church in the sanctuary. His wife was found laying on the sanctuary floor with a stab wound to her back, said Laura Campbell, public information officer for the GCSO.
According to witnesses, Edwards arrived at the church while she was attending Bible study there, and asked her to come out of the church. She immediately ran back into the church with her husband following behind her with a knife, according to congregants there. He then knocked her to the ground and stabbed her in the back, Campbell said.
Edwards is currently being held at Greenville County Detention Center on a charge of attempted murder. More charges are pending.
There is no further word on the victim's condition.
