Wade Hampton Students Arrested For Having Weapons

14-year-old, 15-year-old boys reportedly caught with knife, gun.

Two students at Wade Hampton High School were arrested Tuesday and charged with carrying a weapon on school property, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

At 10:15 a.m., the school resource officer at WHHS was told that some students on campus may have been in possession of firearms. The deputy followed up on the information and was able to locate a black airsoft pistol in a student's book bag in the gym locker room, and a pocket knife in the possession of another student.

The second student also had a pistol and a pocket knife concealed on his person. The students were both boys, 14 and 15 years old respectively.

Both students were arrested at the high school and taken to the juvenile detention center. No one was injured in the incident.

The incident is just the latest in a series of weapons-related incidents in Upstate schools. A Byrnes High student was detained just days ago for allegedly threatening to shoot students, and on Dec. 19 Joseph Bird, 17, allegedly made threats that led to his arrest at Blue Ridge Christian Academy in Landrum.
