Video: Governor Haley Challenges Legislature On Tax Reform

Gov. Nikki Haley publicly questioned the true intentions of the tax reform bills that have been proposed in the House.

Gov. Nikki Haley visited Carolina Machine Tool in Greenville on Tuesday to call out the state legislature for what she called an unwillingness to put its money where its mouth is in regards to tax relief.

Haley, an outspoken proponent of tax reform, called recently introduced pieces of legislation aimed at tax reform "disgenuous," because the bills have little chance to pass.

The governor's office has put together a proposed budget plan with a built-in $140 million in tax relief, Haley said, that also calls for the phasing out of the state's industry tax.

The governor added that if the State House of Representatives is serious about the tax reform bills it is considering, then it should move forward with allotting the necessary money to fund the relief.
