Suspect In Blue Ridge High Assault Arrested
A 16-year-old accused of assaulting another student in the bathroom will be tried as an adult .
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that it had arrested a 16-year old Blue Ridge High School student for allegedly assaulting another student there on May 1.
Damian James Greer faces a charge of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and despite his age, will be tried as an adult, the GCSO confirmed.
On Tuesday, Greer allegedly assaulted Austin Farmer in the boys' bathroom at Blue Ridge High School. Farmer sustained a fractured jaw and broken teeth as a result of the assault, according to the warrant for Greer's arrest. The warrant also states that the assault occured after Farmer had already refused a challenge from Greer to fight. The victim's mother told WSPA Farmer had injuries that would require plastic surgery to repair.
Greer is being held at the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Facility awaiting a bond hearing. He will be tried in General Sessions court on his charge, which is a felony punishable by up to 20 years in jail.
