Readers' Choice Winner: Digger's BBQ Express

In the battle of the barbeque, Digger's BBQ Express fans showed up in a big way to support their favorite BBQ joint.

In this week's Readers' Choice contest, Taylors-Wade Hampton Patch asked its readers to choose the best spot for barbeque, and the local BBQ fans spoke loud and clear.

Digger's BBQ Express, located on Wade Hampton Boulevard, won this week's contest with an overwhelming 77 percent of the vote, besting Dickey's BBQ Pit, which sits roughly two miles down Wade Hampton Boulevard from its competitor.

Digger's, which offers a drive-through for easy pick-up, has a variety of sauces (mustard, vinegar and tomato) to please even the pickiest barbeque tastes.

This week's contest drew some fun ribbing from supporters of the contestants.

"Comparing Diggers and Dickey's? There is no comparison," Ashley commented. "Digger's is by far the best BBQ in town. The great service even adds to it.

Make sure to check out Taylors Patch's contest next week, which will ask you to choose the best florist in town as we approach Mother's Day.

You wish!! Sticky Fingers is a cookie cutter bbq joint that should be called a steak house not a BBQ Restaurant. Not even in Diggers BBQ League. I have had their food many times at catered functions and just not Authentic at all and everyone who tries it says the same thing...Good sides but BBQ is so/so?? Just sayin Sticky Fingers not in Diggers league and no where near their quality and value.

nick, you are comparing something catered with something right out of the kitchen? is that a fair comparison? diggers is good but stickys ribs are twice as meaty.

Harry, it really should be an even better comparison because in the restaurant you have a greater chance of screw ups because they have to keep things on heat at all times that can diminish the quality as opposed to a catered event where the food "Should" be at its best because it should come straight from the kitchen to the event. So the very fact that Sticky fingers quality was sub par at several catered functions that me and my friends have been at was a turn off for me personally and I have had take out from the downtown location on a few occasions and again it was not their best effort. I might be more critical because I have worked in the food industry and have a high standard of what I think is good but in my opinion based on experience Digger's Gives the Superior product and by the votes and comments I am not the only one who thinks so.
