Greer Police Officers Recognized for DUI Arrests

SC Department of Public Safety honors officers and agencies for efforts in enforcing DUI laws.

Four Greer Police officers were among those recently recognized by the SC Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) for their efforts in 2012 to enforce the state’s DUI laws and remove impaired drivers from South Carolina roadways.

SCDPS presented awards to officers and agencies in several categories and held drawings for agencies to win equipment and vehicles during the 8th Annual DUI Enforcement Recognition and 2012 Law Enforcement DUI Challenge Ceremonies.

Officers Wesley Keller and Jim Williams were honored as "Silver DUI Heroes" for making between 25-49 DUI arrests in 2012.

Cpl. Scott Broome and Officer John Ruple were honored as "Bronze DUI Heroes" for making 10-24 DUI arrests in 2012.

Greenville County Sheriff's Office also was recognized during the ceremony.

Deputy Jonathan Jackson with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office was recognized as Officer of the Year for an agency with 51-100 officers. Jackson was recognized for making 152 DUI arrests in 2012.

Greenville County Sheriff's Deputies Chris Bailey, Gene Clark, Jonathan Jackson,Wil Richter, Jared Skinner and Jesse Wasserman were named “DUI Gold Heroes” for making more than 50 DUI arrests.

GCSO Deputy Shane Cook was recognized as a “DUI Silver Hero” for making between 25-49 DUI arrests last year.

Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Steve Burnett, Marcus Cannon, Bill Lynn, John Phillips and Ramon Rivera were recognized as “DUI Bronze Heroes” for making 10-24 DUI arrests last year.

Officers with South Carolina Highway Patrol Troop 3, which covers Greenville, Pickens, Anderson, Oconee and Spartarnburg Counties were recognized as “DUI Gold Heroes” for making more than 50 DUI arrests last year.

The Troop 3 Highway Patrol officers recognized are Lance Cpl. B. S. Bryson, Senior Trooper D. J. Harris, Senior Trooper M. A. Peele, Lance Cpl. D. A. Rieser, Lance Cpl. D. P. Robertson, Lance Cpl. B. C. Smith, Senior Trooper J. K. Tyner and Lance Cpl. S. M. Williams.

Those recognized as “DUI Heroes” will receive pins in gold, silver and bronze to honor their DUI arrest accomplishments in 2012.

District 3 of the State Transport Police, which covers Greenville, Pickens, Oconee, Anderson and Spartanburg Counties was recognized as State Transport Police District of the Year for 10 DUI arrests.
