Four high school students recently represented Greer Middle College Charter High School's Student Ambassador program at a national student conference in Los Angeles.

Katie Roberts, Celika Lara, Austin Spence and Luke Buerer attended the Middle College National Consortium to collaborate and share what they have learned in a year-long project on diversity with students from across the country.

These four students, along with Kaitlyn Fretwurst, Lauryn Moore and Katia Dauhanosava, worked on local projects concerning the diversity of lifestyles and beliefs in the Upstate.

Their projects explored elements of Catholicism, Islam, veganism, and green living, and the students reported their questions and findings regarding these topics to their high school community at GMC, as well as to the larger community of MCNC students through videos.

In California, the students participated in group activities designed to further students' knowledge of diversity. The students learned through visiting museums of art, culture, and tolerance, exploring the ecological diversity of an island, discussing issues of genocide and social hatred and presenting their findings to a community of their peers.
