Gov. Haley: Perry is a 'Superstar'
The S.C. governor says Perry entering race during RedState Gathering in Charleston is 'brilliant.'
CHARLESTON — Gov. Nikki Haley called Texas Gov. Rick Perry a "superstar" at the RedState Gathering being held today at Francis Marion Hotel downtown.
Perry is expected to make an announcement 1 p.m. at the gathering on his bid for the GOP nomination.
What makes Perry a superstar?
"He has a hope for America that's great," she said. She added that many of the candidates that have entered the race are superstars.
Haley said there would be no "re-do" for President Barack Obama.
"We've got great issues and great candidates, and that combination is magical because we have a president who has failed," she said. "We have just started on how big we're going to be for 2012."
Haley said she is not endorsing a candidate at this time, but would after all the GOP candidates had spent time in the state.
"The field is wide open," Haley said. "It's anybody's game in South Carolina right now."
With Perry bucking the straw poll in Iowa today, the national attention has been split between there and the RedState Gathering here.
Haley said that was a "great choice."
"His timing is brilliant," Haley said. "This is telling America, 'Get Ready.'"
For Myrtle Beach resident Gerri McDaniel, Perry's expected announcement showcases the state's role in national politics with its grassroots efforts.
"He knows how important South Carolina is," McDaniel said. "We're the boots on the ground."
When asked if she would seek a 2012 nomination, Haley said she is "thrilled to be the governor of South Carolina" and had no plans for a higher office.

Haley said the president has failed. No he hasn't. Everything that he has tried to do to make things better, the republicians have blocked it. Their only interest is to make the president a one-termer and their are willing to do anything to make that happen, even if it includes destroying the economy and the country. The next time the governor wants to call someone a liar, she needs to look at herself in the mirror. Remember 10,000 jobs turned into 2,000.

Until the mid-term elections, Mr.Obama enjoyed the benifit of having majorities in all branches of goverment. So quit blaming republicans, quit blaming Mr.Bush, and let Mr. Obama chew and choke on his on self made disasters in governing.Had Mr. Obama announced during the 08' election, he would as President deliver 9-10% unemployment, flat growth, apologize for American superiority, and demand you buy healthcare with out objections and pay fines if you dont, only fools would have voted for him.But wait, fools did!!!!!!! How's that hope and change working for you now?

Yes, he has made mistakes and I don't agree with everything that he has done, but you cannot put all of blame on him. In almost three years in office, there is know way in the world that he could have created a $14.5 trillion dollars in debt in that amount of time. You can allow yourself to think that, but the proof is in the puddling. Two wars that we couldn't afford. Giving tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations, and giving subszidies to the oil companies. A failed a prescription drug program. The republicians did this, not the democrats. The middle class and the poor are paying more taxes than the wealthy. The wealthy are ruding this country. When you have Warren Buffett saying that the wealthy are not paying their fair share of taxes, that says alot about this country. The republicians party is doing the opposite of Robin Hood. Stealing from the middle class and the poor to make the wealthy even more richer. If fools vote in 2012 for the republicians, then their are not only fools, but dumb a$$es as well. I believe that the economy could have been a lot better if the republicians were willing to compromise, instead of doing everything possible to make the president a one-termer. You and all the people that vote republician put them back in power, we all will be sorry. Look at their work when there were in power the last time.

I went to school at Clemson the same time Nimrata Nikki Randhawa was attending.
I knew her well. It's a fact that she graduated from Clemson with a 2.1 GPA with a B.A. Degree in Accounting. She had a reputation as being a party girl. She was known to go to frat parties and do her famous "Limbo Dance" in a short skirt with no "undees". That got her a lot of attention from frat members.
I don't doubt the statements made about her "affairs with political co-horts" They are probably true. She also has tried more than 5 times to pass her CPA exam...she has never made it...yet. I think Nikki is a product of a very mis-led electorate in the State. This woman is a devout Sikh and uses her ruse of Christianity for deliberate political intention. Nikki making it as Governor, shows how backward and right wing this state really is. Hopefully, people will see thru the veil
and vote her out of office next Governors election.

I agree with you. Ms. Haley is a forged, a liar, evil and vindicative woman. Who got to become governor the easyway. Without answering the tough questions.
The thing about her Lexington job, IRS and about the two men that said that there had an "affairs with her", etc. I thought that was lowdown dirty tatic, that made those two look like fools, but she never addressed it. The people of South Carolina got screwed for electing this woman. We don't need a governor who wants to be a "Rock Star". The people of this state deserve better.

Nikki Haley is a real joke. She doesn't ahve enough ability to be dog catcher. Haley’s latest philistine move has been to replace the entire Board of Directors of ETV with cronies bent on destroying public media. More campaign contributors being rewarded with plum appointments? Or just packing the place with those who want to privatize (destroy) people’s access to unbiased news?
Haley’s threat to “grade” legislators on whether or not they agree with her comes with a traveling chart, complete with check marks. But this idea backfired when they decided to “grade” her on performance. For one who won’t support public schools, she sure likes the report card idea.
Nikki Haley had a hard time getting out of Clemson with an Accounting degree. Many people that knew her while she was in Clemson will state that she is a real "dummy".
