Win or lose, most candidates in Taylors-area races took to their Facebook pages on Wednesday to thank their supporters or their votes and encouragement.
Sen. Mike Fair had plenty reason to be grateful, as his supporters propelled him to a primary victory over challenger Chris Sullivan, who mounted a spirited campaign.
"My opponents ran spirited, dedicated campaigns. Their love for their district, state, and country is clear," Fair wrote to his followers.
Meanwhile, Jenn Webb, who ran against Bob Taylor, a former Bob Jones University dean, said she was encouraged by the 40 percent of votes she was able to garner against the county council incumbent.
"The turnout was very low yesterday due to a lot of voter apathy over those kicked off the ballot," Webb wrote. "I was happy to get 40 percent, as that's the most votes any challenger has ever received against Bob Taylor."
In Taylors-area contests on Tuesday, Fair bested Sullivan, Tom Corbin defeated Amanda Somers in the Senate 5 race, Sid Cates beat Scott Stephens for District 20 county council seat and Taylor defeated Webb.
