Clemson, UGA To Open Season In Primetime Slot

Georgia and Clemson, both expected to be ranked in the top 10 in the country, will face off on in a nationally televised primetime game.

The Clemson-UGA game in 2013 will take on the look and feel of some of the epic showdowns of the 1980's, when both programs were perennial powers.

The game time was announced Tuesday for Clemson's Aug. 31 season opener against the University of Georgia, and it has all the makings for a frenzied environment in Death Valley. Kickoff is scheduled at 8 p.m. at Memorial Stadium for the game, which will be televised by ABC, multiple media outlets, including TigerIllustrated report.

Both teams will come into 2013 with aspirations for a national title run, and will likely be preseason ranked in the top 10 in the nation. After winning 12 games a year ago, Georgia finished the 2012 season ranked No. 4 in the nation, and Clemson, finishing with 11 wins - it's last being a thriller over SEC powerhouse LSU in its bowl game, finished last season ranked No. 9 in the land.

Those rankings may very well be similar coming into the 2013 year, as both schools return several stars, none of whom shine more brightly than UGA's Aaron Murray and Clemson's Tajh Boyd, who have combined for an absurd 72 touchdown passes a year ago (36 each).

Murray and Boyd will come into the primetime tilt with more career touchdown passes than any other active quarterback in the country.
